The Qian Zheng Memorial Scholarship[pronounced Chee-Ann Jung] is named in memory of Dr. QIAN Zheng (钱铮), a civil engineer who received her Ph.D. from Gesamthochschule Kassel (now Universtät Kassel), Germany. She studied and worked in China, Germany, and Canada before losing her battle with liver cancer in 1999. She was the biggest inspiration to her only daughter YIN Yin (殷愔), who was fortunate to inherit Dr. Qian’s extroverted personality, organizational skills, love for sports, arts, and music, as well as unquenchable wanderlust.

The Scholarship was founded in 2011 by Yin to support underprivileged female undergraduates in STEM majors in some Chinese universities.
It is run as a volunteer organization and 100% of all donations go towards the scholars and programming.
