Yuqi grew up in Anyang, Henan Province, a common county. She never left her hometown before she went to college. From primary school to senior high school, she always performed well academically and took on leadership positions, never letting her parents worry too much. In addition to learning, she respects teachers, unites students, is enthusiastic to help others and actively participates in various activities.
As a child, she learned a lot of things with interest, such as electronic organ, Latin dance, hard pen calligraphy and so on. Although it was a pity that these interested were deprioritized because of her studies, they still enriched her extracurricular life and spiritual world. In her spare time, she often travels with her parents. Before college, they had visited Beijing, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Hainan, and other places. These experiences increased her insight and broadened her horizons. Her father is a biology teacher, and her mother is a chemistry teacher. Influenced by the family atmosphere, she had a strong interest in science since she was a child, and chose science without hesitation in high school. She chose clinical medicine as her major at Nanjing University to “further appreciate the wonder and vastness of the medical world”. In high school, she had the honor to listen to two summer inspirational lectures of Yanxing (QZMS’s partner organization in China), which left a deep impression on her. From then on, she began to yearn for one day to be able to step on the platform and share her experience like senior students. After entering Nanjing University, she seized the opportunity to join Yanxing without hesitation. In early 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic spread around the world, medical doctors attracted people's attention again. Hearing the touching deeds of doctors, she once again feels proud of her status as a medical student and feels that she must shoulder more responsibilities. She feels very honored to win the Qian Zhang Memorial Scholarship. This honor is not only a kind of recognition, but also an incentive for her. She vows to continue to work hard and progress towards the goal of becoming an excellent clinician. |
