YANG Yujing, who lives with her father and brother in a small city in Gansu Province, is a generalist.
During her high school, Yujing was the captain of her class for three years. Not only did she often help her teacher manage class, she was a good study partner in her classmates’ eyes. She always shared her studying methods with them to help those around her succeed as well. In her first year in college, she encountered many challenges such as her weak English skills. She also struggled with her poor sense of spatial orientation as she often lost her way when going to places. She knew that if she didn’t strive to change, then her directional problems would remain. As such, for a semester, she worked to improve her sense of direction by going to different places every weekend. Now, she is used to traveling by herself and has lots of experience and courage to face any accidental wrong turns! In her sophomore year, Yujing started to study accounting as a second major. She thought that only after you experience enough things can you know what you like best and, thereby,choose correctly. In the meantime, Yujing is widely involved in many scientific research projects such as PVK solar cells, theoretical physics, and more. She won the first prize in a physics experiment competition at Beijing Jiaotong University and third prize in a physics experiment competition among university students in Beijing, in which Yujing and her teammates worked on theoretical physics subject. She has been doing graduate-student level experiment research in PVK solar cells for almost a year, in which she was a team leader of a student research group. They planned to summarize their work in a research paper in three months, which is what she doing in Fall 2018. Because of her many projects, Yujing became increasingly fascinated by the simplicity and symmetry of physics; she believes physics research will be truly worth her devotion as she aspires to become a researcher in her career. In her personal life, Yujing is a very optimistic and enthusiastic girl who has positive impact on her surrounding. She likes literature, poems, writing, hiking, climbing and travel. She enjoys the positive feelings that any good thing brings to her. She also enjoys writing, of which many of her articles are published. Also, she takes her brother’s education very seriously because she believes that education brings a huge benefit to everyone. She feels proud that her dear brother is an excellent student and is particularly very good at mathematics. Yujing is very thankful to QZMS. Through the program’s exposure, she will see a bigger and more wonderful world. She finds inspiration in knowing the excellent mentors and scholars are striving to improve and do good things for the world, just as she does. She was very grateful for all of this. |
