WANG Rui comes from a single parent family, since her mother passed away in an accident in 2014. Her father is a taxi driver who works hard to support the family, which includes her grandparents. Rui has studied at a boarding school since age 12 and thanks to her excellent grades, got to attend high school in Beijing.
She now majors in Information Management and Information System because she has always been good at mathematics. With the dramatic development of the Internet, there are huge amounts of valuable information in data science and she would like to devote herself to explore this area. Her near-term goal is to study abroad to get a master’s degree at the University of Melbourne and then become a data analysis engineer. She plans to spend 20% of this scholarship to sign up for the IELTS, a required English language test for graduate schools, spend 30% on medical expenses for her grandparents, and save the rest to spend in the future when she is in another country. She is a prolific volunteer, having participated in a variety of community service activities. These include Yanxing’s summer inspirational speech tour and fundraising on the sidewalks to assemble Care Packages, which were then sent to children who live in poverty in mountainous areas. “If I didn't join in this family, I wouldn't realize that English spoken is so important. Now I pay more attention on my English communication skill and I gain a little progress every day. Hope I can chat with my mentor fluently as soon as possible.” |
