WANG Qian comes from a small village in Anhui province. When she was 9 years old, she was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome, which was a setback for her family. In those two years, constantly taking medicine, she could only rest at home and learn by herself, which was hard both for her parents and herself. She did her best to get good grades and make her parents proud. She tried to behave well, be diligent and disciplined.
After being admitted to Nanjing Normal University, she had a hard time adapting to college life and academics at first, especially in her mathematics courses. As a result, she has been self-studying at night for three years, almost every day. She took part in the National Math Competition in 2019 and won the third prize, and obtained the excellent student scholarship and National encouragement scholarship. Although she didn’t win the first prize, she still likes to join all kinds of competitions and collaborates well with her partners. She majors in Statistics, which belongs to the Academy of Mathematical Science. She found herself interested in courses such as Intensive computation of insurance and ordinary differential equations, which are closely related to our daily life and are more practical. She hopes to become a database engineer in the economics or insurance fields in the future. At present she is learning some statistical software such as SAS and SPSS. Those are all basic tools, but are really useful when analyzing large quantities of data. She will spare no efforts to study further. |
