Luwei arrived at Tsinghua University after having placed among the top ten university entrance exam takers in her province. She has a brother who is a decade younger and her parents were farmers until an unfortunate car accident in 2008 left them both unable to perform physical work. Her career goal is to become a computer scientist and hopefully study abroad. She plans to use the scholarship to alleviate the financial burden on her parents and cover TOEFL registration and tuition fees to improve her English.
She spends about 4 hours a week leading volunteer activities for Yanxing on the Tsinghua campus and most enjoyed being part of the lecture team during the summer, giving inspirational speeches to high school students, staying that “although the lecture mission is very tiring, the stories of growth from the lecturers can help high school students strengthen their desires to aim for elite universities and give them spiritual encouragement to work hard to realize their dreams.” In her spare time, she plans on the softball team of her department and roller skates. |
