SUN Xiang was born in a small and poor village, where most teenagers choose to work after junior high school. However, though both her father and mother are farmers and needed to raise three children, they stayed optimistic and told their children that study is the best choice for them. Under the guidance of her parents, she has been hard-working since childhood and maintains her positive attitude.
Xiang is currently majoring in Statistics in Renmin University of China. She has a strong interest in math and enjoys using math to solve real-world problems. Therefore, she chose Statistics as her major. “Learning math makes me logical and Statistics gives me a different perspective to discover the familiar world and tell me how to be sober in Big Data. I love my major. Statistics is so charming that I have a huge passion for further studies.” Community service is also an important aspect in her life. She is active in Yanxing and also enjoys participating in diverse volunteer activities. “When I do a little to help others, I can feel a strong self-identity and have more power for life. Besides, I think volunteer work can give me a chance to learn more about different people and the world.” |
