Jiaqi comes from a county town in Sichuan Province. When she was very young, she liked mathematics very much and achieved good grades, not least because a teacher took extra care to tutor her in his spare time to ensure she excelled. As she grew older, she gradually fell in love with engineering and devoted herself to applying theoretical knowledge to practice. Through her efforts, she was admitted to the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to study electrical engineering and automation.
“My family is poor, as a result I have developed the habit of frugality and hardship since I was a child. My parents work in other cities which are far from where I grew up [with my grandparents], so I am quite independent and strong. Because I have seen the dark side of life, I am more optimistic and will not complain about life easily.” At school, she is strict with herself, trying to balance her demanding studies with her colorful life, so far excelling on both. She is serious and meticulous in her studies while also actively participating in volunteering activities in her spare time to contribute her own strengths to society. She likes all sports, ranging from badminton, tennis, long-distance running to hiking. In addition, she shares: “I like reading books in the library during my study break, and I like Chinese writers RAO Pingru and WANG Xiaobo very much. I also like watching movies, and when I have time, I write film reviews for the movies I have seen.” |
