Ma Yan is from Zhoukou City, Henan Province. She comes from a family of five who are entirely supported by her father. Her father is disabled, however, life has made him independent and strong. He attaches great importance to education so has told Ma Yan to study very hard when Ma Yan was younger. Ma Yan’s brother who was admitted to the Beihang University this year attends the same university with her now.
Ma Yan wants to be a senior engineer now with science and technology developing rapidly and high-tech products emerge endlessly. She hopes to design products that can also appear in each household and serve other people. In her spare time, she takes some lessons related to creativity and innovation because she doesn’t want to be a student who just understands the theory of knowledge and doesn’t have the concept of innovation. She believes that science, technology and academic cannot make breakthroughs without innovation. “I am so lucky to be one of the Qian Zheng scholars. It gives me a chance to engage with a group of women who are so brave and excellent. I was so excited when I had lunch with Yin Yin and other scholars for the first time.” Value of QZMS: “Female independence and the attitude towards life have been most valuable to me.
