Meiwei is studying Energy Engineering at Beihang University out of her great passion for environment protection. For her, STEM as a whole comprises methods of understanding the world and they are becoming more important in the information age. “I take interest in STEM because I think they bring solutions to many global problems, especially in the field of environment protection.” She also chose English as her second major to prepare herself for opportunities abroad. Her career goals are to become an engineer at a multinational corporation, so she can experience a new environment and broaden her horizons, and then possibly seek a job at the UN.
She studies hard in her major and takes part in lots of activities in which she often holds a leadership role. She says: “I am very willing to help others including community services, because I was once a recipient. I studied in a charity high school where I received much better educational resources than if I had studied to study my relatively poor hometown and that totally changed my life path.”
Reading and running are her main hobbies. Her favorite is reading foreign classical literature, which is one important reason why she is so curious about the Western world. She also enjoys writing drama in her spare time because she wants to create works that can move people. She often keeps an eye on International news and policies as a way to understand the outside world.
