HUANG Jie comes from a small village in Anhui province and her parents are farmers. She has a little brother studying in middle school and some cousins in senior school or college. She is the eldest girl in her family and the first girl to enter university in her family and village.
The longer she studies environmental science, the more she realizes how meaningful the work is to protect our planet. She hopes to be a researcher in the field. She is in charge of a program named "Green Extraction Process of Anisole", leading the research with her schoolmates. In her spare time, she does some part-time work to cover daily expenses. And she like to be a volunteer to help children, disabled people and the elderly, which makes her feel meaningful and peaceful, since she received help from others, too. She was influenced by her teacher who helped students without repayment and remembered his words that “people should be grateful to the people who helped you and deliver the kindness to others”. Through QZMS, I “got to know excellent scholars and realized I can do as they have. They spur me and give me confidence and I know I am not alone, And I can share my confusion with my scholar, Yang Sijie, she is like a sister and helped me a lot when I am in discouraged. QZMS also provides me a lot of opportunities to chat with a real foreigner, the mentors. For example, I can write an English letter much more quickly than before and I can use English as a tool.” |
