Junmei is from a small village in Jiangxi Province. She is passionate about preserving the environment, a passion she’s had since middle school. This led her to choose environmental science as her major with the determination to restore the land to what it was. She has enjoyed taking her prerequisite courses as a freshmen in mathematics, chemistry, physics, programing and so on. After working as hard as she can for a year, she has ranked first in her major.
Equipped now with a deeper understanding of environmental science, Junmei feels strongly about protecting the environment. This is a cause that she believes cannot be done by herself because it needs not only technical knowledge, but also public interest and participation. She has tried very hard to promote both her academic knowledge and social practice experience leading her to become an enthusiastic participant in the Yanxing summer inspirational speech tour and other community service activities. In these activities, She has learned how to express her ideas more efficiently and persuasion techniques, which are exactly what she needs for her future job as a environmental engineer. She is accepted by Peking University for further postgraduate degree. Outside of her major, Junmei has a variety of hobbies. She once won Best Actress in a English play performance competition and she serves as a broadcaster in her campus radio station. In her free time she enjoys singing and reading to relax. “My current career goal is to become an environmental manager, perhaps a policy maker and researcher in government department. Before the junior year, I was determined to be an environmental engineer, but after studying this year, I found myself interested in macro-systemic policies and would like to try the cross-cutting field of environmental management. The next step is to attend graduate school at Peking University.” |
