I was born in Tianjin and grew up there until I was 7 years old. After spending half a year of primary school in China, I moved with my mother to Kassel (Germany), where my father was working on his doctoral thesis in engineering. Growing up I was very curious and passionate about science. Naturally I decided to study natural sciences at Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. After receiving my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in chemistry, I immersed deeper into the world of fundamental and interdisciplinary research of solvation by completing my Ph.D. in spring 2013. After spending many years in an academic surrounding, I was curious about ‘the world outside the laboratory’ and pursued a career in the industry. Now I am working as a new product development manager in the coil coating industry.
I’ve known Yin Yin since childhood, and I am very proud of her founding the Qian Zheng Memorial scholarship in honor of her brilliant and kind mother. When she asked me to become a mentor, I was very excited to get the opportunity to participate in helping talented young women who are working hard to achieve their goals in the field of science or engineering. |
