Before my current job as test lead at Kumu Networks, a start-up in Silicon Valley, I was a hardware engineering manager at Silver Spring Networks and a colleague of Yin’s. She frequently recruited me to be a technical resource during visits by business delegations from around the world, discovering that deep down inside, I actually enjoy interacting with human beings almost as much as with machines. I have over 15 years of industry experience designing and verifying network transceivers and am an active technical participant in international standard-setting organizations, including IEEE802.11, Wi-Fi Alliance Zigbee Alliance and Wi-SUN Alliance. If you buy me a beer, I will also tell you about my patents on using lighting and other devices to indicate parking space availability. I started my career working for other leading tech companies such as Broadcom and 3Com and hope to provide mentorship to more young people who are interested in the field. I hold a BSEE in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Minor in Physics from the California State University in Sacramento. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my wife, two sons, a dog, as well as my two neglected motorcycles.
