I was born in Shanghai but grew up in San Francisco after my parents decided to immigrate to the US when I was eight years old. That single decision changed my life and I'll be forever grateful for their decision. While I grew up in America, I've always felt very close to China and visited often when I was growing up. When I studied political economy at UC Berkeley, I decided to create a major emphasis on China's social and legal changes. After graduation, I went into management consulting but got pretty restless and decided to join a startup. Very lucky for me, my startup had a Beijing office and I moved back to China to work. Unfortunately, the 2008 Financial Crisis hit us pretty hard. With business shrinking and downsizing, I applied to and eventually attended The Wharton School. After receiving my MBA, I joined PayPal and did business development. From there, I moved to DocuSign, where I currently work as a Director of Business Development. Outside of work, I love traveling, hiking, watching movies/TV shows and snacking. My husband calls me a couch potato and I embarrassingly agree with him. :)
My motivation for mentoring students is very simple. It makes me happy. I've received mentorship all of my life from various people.... teachers, friends, managers. All of whom have played critical roles in guiding me towards a better path. So I know the value of mentorship and have since mentored a few other young women. It makes me feel great to know that I've helped them make important choices in life. I strongly believe in QZMS's mission. To the selected students, as you continue your hard work, this scholarship will be one of many amazing opportunities you will receive in life. I am honored to be a part of your life journey and help you succeed! |
