Dandan grew up in a small village, but in her teens, she, her younger brother and parents moved several times. She thus learned to quickly adapt to new environments. Due to the heavy pollution in her hometown of Xuanhua, many people developed illnesses, and this prompted Dandan to study environmental science. At Beijing Normal University, she received Undergraduate Research Funds to study the” Hydrodynamic Conditions’ Effects on Daphnia Magna Growth”, among other topics. Outside of the laboratory, she was the person in charge of leading Yanxing’s activities at Beijing Normal University, such as the spring outing, orientation, graduation get-together, speeches, etc. She has decided to pursue a career in a business first and hopefully return to her original goal of aiding the environment. She has just transferred to a new department and hopes it will be a better fit for her skills and aspirations. Her advice to others is: “Treasure your school life and go around during summer holiday if it is possible. It won’t take a lot of money, but is will make you more and more open to the world.”
“The Qian Zheng Scholarship means a lot to me. I have met so many kind people here, who are excellent in their career. I have got so many sweet friends, who are beautiful and hardworking. I have gotten to know so many things about the outside world, for example, life in America and Germany. I always remember the feeling when we sit together, talking and laughing. We share everything with each other, our school life, our family story, our dreams and difficulties.” |
