I was born in Pakistan, lived in England and but did majority of my growing up in Canada, before moving to the US. It was in Canada that I met Yin. We were in the same class in the 8th grade but really became better friends during our daily walks home from school. We bonded over our love of Backstreet Boys and connected over how similar our parents were despite hers being Chinese and mine being Indian. A common theme was always the value of education and getting a B grade was just not an option :). Their value of education remained ingrained in our brain because 20 plus years later we are still talking about education and yes, also fitting in some Backstreet Boys talk.
I went to the University of Waterloo in Canada and majored in Math and Economics. I am currently working as an actuary in Chicago. I am extremely honored to be part of this program and am looking forward to supporting young and talented female students in the Qian Zheng Memorial Scholarship program. |
